About ten people have been taken to Skellefteå Hospital, and the hospital has been placed on standby to care for the injured, Region Västerbotten says in a press release.
According to police, there were 48 passengers on board the overturned bus. A passing bus was able to pick up several of those involved.
Those involved who do not have an urgent need for care, or who are uninjured, were able to get on that bus. But I cannot answer whether it is still there or whether it has left, says police spokesperson Elisabeth Glaas.
The bus is a double-decker and is lying on its side in the ditch. Two passenger cars are also in a ditch on the other side of the road.
The caller said it was a rear-end collision, but could not say who hit whom, says Agnes Brandt, team leader at SOS Alarm.
The accident occurred at around 12 noon.
There is no criminal suspicion at this time.
