45.80. That's the new world record for the 400-meter hurdles, and the holder is Brazilian Alison dos Santos.

The race in Zurich had been billed as a duel between Norwegian Karsten Warholm and dos Santos, but there was never any contest over who would win.

Dos Santos immediately took a clear lead and never gave it up. Warholm didn't stand a chance and saw his five-year-old world record of 45.94 shattered.

"It's fantastic," dos Santos says in an interview with SVT after the race.

But that wasn't the end of the world records on Thursday evening.

A little later, American Masai Russell ran a new world record time of 12.09 in the 100-meter hurdles, improving the world record by three hundredths of a second.
