Serie A has given the go-ahead for the controversial proposal, it emerged ahead of Milan's Super Cup match against Napoli on Thursday - a match played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The decision comes two months after La Liga backed down and scrapped plans for Barcelona to face Villarreal in a league match in Miami.
The match between Milan and Como will be played in Perth on February 8. The decision is due to the fact that Milan's home stadium, San Siro, is occupied by the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina Olympics two days before.
It is the first time a Serie A match has been played outside Italy's borders. When the plans were first announced, they were met with strong criticism, especially from Milan's two French internationals, Adrien Rabiot and Mike Maignan.
Napoli won the semi-final of the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh 2-0. Maximilian Seger Ibrahimovic was on the Milan bench, but did not get any playing time.
