The new club will be Shenzhen Peng City. The 28-year-old Croatian has mixed feelings about packing his bags and moving.
"To be honest, it's very difficult for me to move because I shared so many great moments with AIK. I enjoyed every moment of being part of the huge club that AIK is," Benkovic said in a statement on the club's website.
Furthermore, AIK announced it will receive between five and ten million kronor for the centre-back.
Benkovic only managed to play one season in black and yellow. He played 27 Allsvenskan matches and scored one goal.
