Dominic McLaughlin will take on the role of the orphaned wizard apprentice Harry Potter. Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout will play Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively.

It has been previously announced that John Lithgow will play Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost will play Rubeus Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu will play Severus Snape, and Janet McTeer will play Minerva McGonagall.
Author JK Rowling is involved in the project and has participated in discussions about screenwriters and directors. "Succession" screenwriter Francesca Gardner will become the head writer of the Harry Potter series, and "Succession" director Mark Mylod has signed on to direct several episodes.
