The woman stole jewelry and other valuables from the elderly – while she was working in home care. She is now charged with five counts of aggravated theft.

The woman, who is in her 40s, is suspected of stealing valuables worth approximately SEK 450,000 while she was working in home care in Partille municipality. The thefts occurred between May 15 and July 7 this year.

She has admitted to stealing jewelry from four people, but to a limited value.

"The users have found themselves in a vulnerable situation and have been robbed in their homes where they have the right to feel safe. This makes me believe that the woman's actions are particularly reckless," says prosecutor Maria Thorell in a press release.

According to Göteborgs-Posten, the woman now accused is the same person who was singled out in 2023 for a 20-year-old, high-profile murder in Gothenburg.

It was in October 2005 that a 36-year-old woman was murdered while she was closing the Stuvkällaren fabric store in Gothenburg, where she worked. The police found DNA at the crime scene and two years ago they met a woman, according to GP the same woman who is now being charged with the thefts.

But charges could never be brought for the murder. Because the woman was under 18 when the crime was committed and so much time had passed by the time her DNA was matched to the crime scene, the case had already become statute-barred.

Another woman, in her 20s, is being charged with receiving money in connection with the home care thefts.
