Laura Ann Aime, 17, disappeared on Halloween, just over 51 years ago, while leaving a party to go to the store. About a month later, her bound, beaten and naked body was found by hikers on the side of a road.

Police investigators long suspected Bundy was behind the murder, but evidence was lacking and the case remained open.

Traces of the teenager's DNA were preserved over the years, and in 2023 investigators gained access to new technology that allowed a DNA profile of the perpetrator to be created. A database search yielded a match for Bundy.

Ted Bundy confessed to killing more than 30 women and girls in the 1970s. He was sentenced to death for three murders in Florida and executed in 1989.
