Djurgården lost their season premiere at home against the reigning Swedish champion Malmö FF (0–1) a week ago. Sirius, on the other hand, won away against IFK Värnamo on Monday (2–1).

On Saturday, the roles were reversed when Djurgården won at Studenternas IP and Sirius lost in front of their home crowd.

Djurgården's Finnish national team defender Adam Ståhl scored the only goal of the match in the 51st minute.

Ståhl's compatriot and teammate Rasmus Schüller injured himself in connection with a rush in the 10th minute of the match and was then lying down.

Schüller was replaced by the former national team midfielder Albin Ekdal.

On Thursday, Djurgården will host Rapid Wien in the first of two matches in the Europa Conference League quarterfinals.
