On Tuesday, he was cleared for Allsvenska Djurgården. On Thursday, Roberth Björknesjö – who previously trained division 2 club Viggbyholm – will face his first match as head coach for the club.

And it's Portuguese Vitória in the Conference League that awaits.

It's clear that the first days have been overwhelming. It's gone fast, he says according to Expressen.

Secure in new role

The 51-year-old says that there has been a lot to get into, but also points out that the situation is not new to him. He has jumped into clubs before – and on short notice achieved good results.

The coach is also certain about what he can contribute.

I've played football for a long time and worked with it for a long time. Four years ago, I chose to stop being a coach because I didn't get abroad.

I stole a little and trained Viggbyholm. I've jumped into many clubs and got results. That's the goal here too in Djurgården.

"Positive"

Captain Magnus Eriksson about the coach change:

With all respect for what has happened, it feels clear to look forward. This kind of thing isn't done painlessly, he says according to TV4's Football Channel.

I think this is completely the right way to go. I think it's positive with "Robban".

Djurgården's sports management chose to fire the coaching duo Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlöf after the 0–2 loss to Hammarby in the scandalous derby at Tele2 Arena.

The match was interrupted after Djurgården's supporters threw firecrackers and pyrotechnics, and was completed only the next day.

Galatasaray-Elfsborg in the Europa League on Wednesday evening at 16.30.

Malmö FF-Olympiakos in the Europa League on Thursday at 21.00.

Djurgården-Vitória in the Conference League on Thursday at 18.45.
