Just before the break, Elfsborg's Rasmus Wikström finished from outside the penalty area after a set-piece situation.
The effort was tame, but Djurgården goalkeeper Jacob Rinne also got a touch. The shot was deflected in and Elfsborg went into the break leading after a strong away match, in which the Borås side had the initiative.
In the second half, Djurgården pulled themselves together and would also get an equaliser through an outstanding strike from Jacob Une, the centre-back's first goal since 2021.
But Elfsborg and Simon Olsson had the final say. The midfielder scored to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes left and scuppered Djurgården's pursuit of Sirius.
Djurgården is second in the table, ten points ahead of the Uppsala side. Elfsborg is fourth.
