Djurgården got off to a perfect start to the match. After just four minutes, Oskar Fallenius gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at Bravida Arena.
The Stockholm side then continued to create several dangerous chances, but failed to extend their lead. Instead, Häcken's equaliser came after 29 minutes, when Adrian Svanbäck found Julius Lindberg with a pass in the penalty area and he was able to make it 1-1.
Before the break, however, Djurgården regained the lead. Kristian Lien headed in a corner to make it 2-1. Lien's sixth goal and Djurgården's eighth headed goal of the season.
"I know I'm good with my head. We have incredibly good feet in the team so it's just a matter of being in the right place," says Lien.
In the second half, Lien stepped up again, made it 3-1 and became Djurgården's match-winner. The Gothenburg side never came closer than reducing the deficit. Nino Zugelj then put the definitive nail in Djurgården's coffin to make it 4-2 with three minutes left.
The away win takes Djurgården up to fifth place in the table. Häcken is third. Sirius tops the table by far.
At the same time, Brommapojkarna and Gais drew 1-1 at Grimsta in Stockholm. Midfield star Oliver Berg gave BP the lead before Henry Sletsjøe equalised for the visitors.
