AIK ended last season by winning three derbies in a row and also won the first rivalry meeting of the autumn in HockeyAllsvenskan.
But when Djurgården finally put an end to the streak, there was no doubt about it.
It's goosebumps all the way, it was my first derby. It means everything to win over "Gnaget", you know how much it means to everyone who's here, says Djurgården's 23-year-old Arvid Costmar to TV4 Hockey.
In the middle of the second period, Djurgården took a firm grip on the match when Hugo Blixt first scored 2–0 and Linus Klasen later made it 3–0. Between the goals, Lukas Zetterberg had been given one of AIK's three match penalties.
Djurgården "settled" for one match penalty, and when Klasen scored his second goal – 4–1 with just over eight minutes left – the match was practically over.
At the same time, Bik Karlskoga won away against Mora with 3–2 and are the new leaders in the table, where it's tight at the top. One point behind are Björklöven, who surprisingly lost 5–6 after overtime at home against Vimmerby, and Södertälje. Djurgården is fourth, but only has a two-point lead over Karlskoga.
