Djurgården and Gais Draw 0-0 Amid Injury Concerns

Rather three points, but preferably no more injuries with the upcoming semi-finals against Chelsea in the Conference League in mind. Djurgården had to settle for 0–0 against Gais – but were spared from TV images showing more serious injuries in an already depleted squad.

Jacob Rinne needed medical attention after thirty minutes of play in today's only Allsvenskan match.

It was twisted and turned on his right leg, whereupon Djurgården's goalkeeper got up and continued playing – to the relief of the medical team, worried supporters, and the coaching staff.

Djurgården has been severely affected by injuries and does not want to see more names on the list.

Goalkeeper Malkolm Nilsson Säfqvist is struggling with an elbow injury, midfielders Rasmus Schüller, Patric Åslund, and Oskar Fallenius are out for a longer period, and in addition, striker Nino Zugelj is missing.

Rested players

Coach Jani Honkavaara benched Adam Ståhl, Tobias Gulliksen, Keita Kosugi, and Daniel Stensson after the load against Rapid Wien on Thursday. He offered a starting eleven with seven new names – all to distribute the physical load on the players right now.

Theo Bergvall made his first start for Djurgården this season.

The semifinals against Chelsea will be played on May 1 and 8, and Djurgården will start at home at Tele2 Arena.

The match schedule is intense before then, with Öster at home in Allsvenskan already on Thursday and – if the match date remains – Brommapojkarna away on April 28.

But most likely, the match will be postponed to a later date. According to TV4 Fotbollskanalen, the Football Association will preliminarily discuss the issue on Tuesday.

One goal in four matches

Squeezed in between the semifinals is also a hot derby against AIK on May 4.

Djurgården pushed hard for victory in the second half, but has desperately struggled with effectiveness. One goal and four points in four matches explain the twelfth place.

We're all a bit tired, but it's too bad. We need to score at home. We have many injuries and wear and tear in the squad, but we should have done much better today, says substitute Tobias Gulliksen to Max.

We have many players who can score goals, but paradoxically, we don't do it in Allsvenskan.

Gais, who had a few dangerous counterattacks in the end, has managed three goals so far and is just above in the table with five points.
