It's completely magical. It was a miracle we needed to get this far, says Gulliksen to Disney+ after the match.
It's 38 years since a Swedish team reached this far in a European tournament. The last time it happened was in 1987 when IFK Göteborg went on to win the Uefa Cup.
Now Djurgården is clear for the semifinal against the English giant Chelsea in the Conference League.
This after Tobias Gulliksen decided the double meeting with Rapid Wien on away ground with double goals in the extension.
Double own goals
Just three minutes into the first extension quarter, the 21-year-old scored the 3-1 goal that made Djurgården lead 3-2 overall. Twelve minutes later, Gulliksen extended to 4-2 overall and Rapid Wien was a beaten team.
For a long time, it looked like double own goals would ruin Djurgården's dream of a semifinal. In Stockholm, it was Hampus Findell who was the scapegoat when Rapid Wien won 1-0.
Away, it was Jacob Une who seemed to become the scapegoat. In added time of the first half, he nodded a free kick into his own goal behind goalkeeper Jacob Rinne.
The goal meant 1-1 in the match after Marcus Danielson gave Djurgården the lead on a penalty in the 42nd minute. Then, the Stockholm team had played with one man more for over half an hour after the home team's Mamadou Sangaré was sent off in the seventh minute after a brutal tackle against Nino Zugelj, who had to leave injured.
Dream goal by Kosugi
In the 77th minute, however, Japanese Keita Kosugi struck with a dream goal to 2-1 and 2-2 overall. Then, he met a lucky ball after a corner and could with a half-volley send in the goal that took the match to extension.
There, Tobias Gulliksen took over the show with his double hits and apart from a chance to play for a place in the final in Polish Wroclaw on May 28, millions are pouring over Djurgården.
The semifinal spot gives 27.5 million kronor into the account and Djurgården has played in at least 113 million kronor on the Conference League play.
The semifinal matches against Chelsea will be played on May 1 and 8.
In the other semifinal, Italian Fiorentina meets Spanish Real Betis.
