The 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic recently went out directly in the major tournament in Madrid. Now the tennis star announces that he will not play the Masters tournament Italian Open, according to the organizer.

No reason is given for Djokovic not playing in Rome – where he has won six times –.

The clay court tournament Italian Open is played May 7-18 and a week later, the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, the French Championship on Roland Garros clay in Paris, begins.

The Serbian tennis legend is chasing his 100th title on the ATP tour, but the 37-year-old has had a tough start to the clay court season. He also went out in the first round in Monte Carlo earlier in April.
