Djokovic, 39, needed nearly three and a half hours to advance to the quarterfinals against qualifier Roman Safulin. The match was decided in four sets, 7–6, 6–3, 3–6, 6–3, in a contest where the record holder was properly challenged.
Among other things, Safulin led the first set 5–2, but Djokovic was able to catch up with his routine and take the set in a tiebreak.
Martina Navratilova is the player with the most wins overall. She won a whopping 120 matches on Wimbledon grass during her career.
