Djokovic won 7–6, 3–6, 6–3, 6–7, 7–6 (10–4) after five hours and 15 minutes of play in the longest quarterfinal ever played at Wimbledon.
Both players managed to break each other's serve only twice throughout the match, and in the deciding set they held serve until a decisive tiebreak.
There, Djokovic's experience proved decisive. The 39-year-old quickly took command and was able to win comfortably.
In the semifinals, Djokovic will face world number one Jannik Sinner, a repeat of last year's semifinal, when Sinner won in three straight sets.
