Novak Djokovic is eliminated from Shanghai Masters. It is clear after the world's fifth-ranked tennis player lost the meeting with Valentin Vacherot, who is ranked 204 in the world.

Djokovic struggled with an injury in his left leg and received treatment several times during the match, which he lost in two straight sets: 3–6, 4–6. This means there will be no fifth title in the tournament in Shanghai for the 38-year-old.

Djokovic has had a tough tournament in hot and humid Shanghai. During the winning match against Jaume Munar, the Serb vomited several times.

Vacherot is, with the upset win, clear for the final in the tournament.

I have hundreds of feelings right now, says Vacherot after the match.

In the other semifinal, the next upset came when unseeded Arthur Rinderknech won against 16th seeded Daniil Medvedev with 4–6, 6–2, 6–4.

The Frenchman's advancement means that there will be a cousin meeting in the final of the major tournament, as Rinderknech and Vacherot are relatives.

Corrected version: In an earlier version, it was stated that quarterfinals were played and that semifinals were pending. Correct is that semifinals were played and that the final is pending.
