There will be no 100th title in the coming tennis week for the Serbian tennis icon Novak Djokovic.

The world's fifth-best player was eliminated directly in the ATP tournament in Madrid, against Matteo Arnaldi in straight sets. The 44th-ranked Italian won with 6–3, 6–4.

Djokovic has not had a good season start on clay. Loss in the first match both in Monte Carlo and now in Madrid. This year's first Grand Slam, the clay tournament in Paris, begins on May 25.
