The decision was made by a divided board, with six of nine votes in favour of keeping interest rates unchanged. It is in line with the average forecast among analysts, according to Bloomberg.
The Bank of England's decision comes after the US central bank, the Federal Reserve (Fed), on Wednesday - for the first time since 2023 - raised its key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points and indicated that there could be two more increases to bring inflation down towards the target.
