On Friday, Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) was in Tallinn and discussed the issue with his Estonian counterpart Liisa Pakosta.
According to the Justice Minister, he is on site to discuss several issues, but confirms that there are ongoing contacts between Sweden and Estonia regarding prison places.
"But the issue is still in an early stage," writes Gunnar Strömmer in a comment to TT.
There is a shortage of prison places in Sweden, something that the Prison and Probation Service has alerted about on several occasions.
In December last year, the Prison and Probation Service therefore submitted a report with proposals to rent places abroad, along with other proposals such as the use of prison ships and that more people should have electronic tagging instead of imprisonment.
