The US ambassador to Paris, Charles Kushner, refused to appear after the French Foreign Ministry summoned him for a meeting, amid angry reactions from the Trump administration following the fatal beating of a far-right activist during a left-wing demonstration in Lyon.
"In light of the apparent failure to understand the basic obligations of an ambassador, the French foreign minister has requested that Kushner no longer be allowed to meet with members of the government."
The US ambassador will continue his other diplomatic duties in France.
