A minute of silence will be held before the quarterfinals of the World Championship for club teams to honor the Liverpool player Diogo Jota, confirms the international football association (Fifa) on its website.
"Only 28 years old, Diogo had had a fantastic career, and had many fine years ahead of him", says Fifa's president Gianni Infantino in social media.
Jota died in a car accident early on Thursday morning in Spain. Also, the football player's brother André Silva died in the accident. Silva played football in the Portuguese second division.
"They will both be deeply missed by everyone who knew them and by the global football community", continues Infantino.
The quarterfinals of the World Championship for club teams are played on Friday and Saturday. First out is Fluminese against al-Hilal on Friday at 21.00 Swedish time.
