The peace agreement between the US and Iran has caused the price of oil on the world market to fall significantly, to around $81 a barrel for North Sea oil.
The effect will also be lower prices at gas stations. On Monday and Tuesday, gas station chains lowered the price of gasoline by 50 öre and diesel by 80 öre, according to prices advertised on their websites, changes that are usually matched by similar cuts for private motorists.
The new gasoline price for private customers is therefore around 17 kronor per liter, while the diesel price will be just over 19 kronor.
This can be compared with 15 and 17 kronor per liter before the war in the Middle East started on February 28.
In a couple of weeks, the government will reduce the fuel tax as a crisis measure by three kronor per liter, including VAT.
