Diddy asks appeals court to overturn his more-than-four-year prison sentence

The hip-hop mogul himself was not present in court in Manhattan when defense attorney Alexandra Shapiro tried to convince the three-judge panel that Combs' prison sentence of four years and two months was unreasonably long for the crimes he committed and that the rapper was treated unfairly during the trial.

Combs was convicted last July of two counts of prostitution-related crimes but was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and extortion that could have carried a life sentence.

No decision was made during the two-hour hearing, but Circuit Judge William J. Nardini called it an "exceptionally difficult case."
