Alican Uludag is the Turkey correspondent for the German foreign broadcaster and has been awarded several prizes for his reporting on corruption and Turkey's judiciary.
He was arrested at his home in a raid by around 30 police officers, according to DW. The company's top executive, Barbara Massing, is demanding his immediate release:
"The fact that a journalist was abducted by 30 police officers like a hardened criminal and taken directly to Istanbul is intended to intimidate and demonstrates the government's massive suppression of press freedom."
Uludag is formally suspected of spreading disinformation and insulting Turkey and its president.
