"The case has connections to another case where a person is detained for various forms of terrorist crimes", writes Säpo in a press release.

This concerns an 18-year-old who is detained for, among other things, preparation for terrorist crimes. The now detained 17-year-old, who is registered in Skåne, was arrested in the Malmö area on Thursday.

The case has connections to violent Islamist extremism, said Johan Wikström, press spokesperson at the Security Police, in connection with the arrest.

Säpo has confirmed that the arrest was made within the framework of the ongoing investigation, but has not gone further into what connects the cases with each other.

The attempted murder is said to have taken place in the city of Eppstein outside Frankfurt on August 13 last year, reports TV4 News.

On Thursday, an 18-year-old man, also registered in Skåne, was detained, suspected of preparation for terrorist crimes, participation in a terrorist organization, aggravated crime, attempted murder, and preparation for aggravated crime against the law on flammable and explosive goods. The man was arrested in the Stockholm area on Tuesday.
