OpenAI has reportedly hired major banks Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in the matter. A confidential draft can be submitted as early as Friday, and OpenAI's goal, according to the WSJ, is to go public in September.

The other day it became clear that OpenAI and its founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman had won a legal dispute against Elon Musk in a high-profile case that, according to the WSJ, had been a major obstacle to an IPO.

Musk, who helped start OpenAI in 2015 but left the board three years later, had sued Altman, Brockman, OpenAI and co-owner Microsoft in 2024, alleging that they violated OpenAI's bylaws by turning it into a for-profit company.
