The dismissal comes shortly after President Donald Trump warned of an escalation in the war against Iran.

"George will retire from his position as the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army effective immediately," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said on social media.
According to a spokesperson for the Department of Defense, two other Army generals have also lost their jobs.
