At the beginning of 2024, AIK's finances were in crisis. The club had a deficit of 77 million kronor and the management decided that revenues needed to be increased. Then they turned to Universal to sell two players: English club Luton bought Lamine Dabo and Italian club Udinese bought Rui Modesto. AIK received 90 million kronor and the finances were in balance.
Even though AIK had communicated that they would not work with the agent company, Fotbollskanalen's reporter Andréas Sundberg writes in the new book "Fotbollsagenterna".
"As a club, we have failed in the background check. It is very regrettable," says AIK CEO Fredrik Söderberg.
