Didier Deschamps will remain as France's national team coach despite the European Championship elimination. This is confirmed by Philippe Diallo, the chairman of the French Football Association, according to L'Equipe.
I see no reason to question his contract. He has achieved what was expected of him, Didier will continue his mission, says Diallo.
France was eliminated in the semifinal of the European Championship, after a 2–1 loss to Spain.
Although there may be frustration over not reaching the final, one must take the necessary perspective and realize that the performances of the French national team are still exceptional, says Diallo.
During the championship, France has been criticized for playing dull football, and for scoring so few goals despite a star-studded attacking lineup. The only goal the French scored during the European Championship was Randal Kolo Muanis' goal in the semifinal, the remaining three were penalty kicks or own goals.
Deschamps has a contract until 2026.
