Fedorov's dismissal caused strong protests in Ukraine, and Zelensky was forced to replace Ukraine's military chief Oleksandr Syrsky - who had disputes with Fedorov - to appease the outraged.
Fedorov has previously reportedly received offers from the president for new government positions, but on Thursday Fedorov said that he is only interested in one position.
"I will not accept any other role than that of defense minister," he said in a statement to Ukrainian media, adding that he wants to fight corruption and "eradicate a culture of lies" as well as "complete a transformation of the army."
