The son of the deposed Shah, Reza Pahlavi, predicted at a press conference in Washington, D.C. on Friday that the Islamic Republic of Iran will fall, that he will then "return to Iran" and that he is ready to lead a transitional government.
Pahlavi said the outside world should support protests against the regime and target efforts at Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard to achieve change.
The Shah of Iran was overthrown in 1979 after ruling the country with a brutal iron fist. Pahlavi has lived in exile in the United States since then.
