The library, together with the National Museum of Denmark, will digitize over 300,000 postcards produced from 1888 to around the turn of the millennium, according to a press release.
The postcards are being posted gradually on a website where the public can help map out exactly when the photo was taken, what it depicts and where the location is or was. Often there is no information at all, or only a vague place name. So far, 23,500 postcards have been posted.
In doing so, the library hopes to tell the story of Denmark and provide a greater understanding of how the country has changed over the years.
