All foreign citizens who are sentenced to prison in Denmark should be deported. This is stated by the country's migration and integration department in a press release.
"Every criminal foreigner who is deported from Denmark is a victory for the rule of law and a victory for our country", says responsible minister Kaare Dybvad Bek (S), in the press release.
This means that the Danish government wants to abolish the so-called step-by-step order, which means that a number of factors should be taken into account in the decision on whether a convicted person should be deported, including how long they have stayed in the country.
The proposal does not apply to conditional sentences.
