Following the recent appeal by the UN agency UNRWA, Denmark is now paying out all planned aid for the year. "I urge others to do the same," writes Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

The UN agency that supports Palestinian refugees has warned of an “unprecedented financial crisis.” Israel has banned the organization, citing alleged links to terrorist groups.

But Denmark, in a post on X, calls UNRWA an "indispensable lifeline for Palestinians in Gaza and the region," and is now paying out the equivalent of 150 million Swedish kronor.

Sweden takes a completely different view. At the end of 2024, Sweden's so-called core support was completely terminated. The Swedish government said in a press release at the time that it "chooses to channel the increased support to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the region through other humanitarian partners."
