The heat peaked at 2:45 p.m., the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) wrote in a press release.
At that time, 37 degrees had been measured in both Ødum, north of Aarhus, and Beldringe, north of Odense. This is the highest temperature since measurements began in 1874.
The previous Danish record of 36.4 degrees was set in Holstebro in August 1975.
The heat wave in Europe is pushing temperatures to record levels in many places. In Denmark, the warmest June night on record was also recorded on Saturday morning. It was a tropical night in large parts of the country, meaning that the temperature did not drop below 20 degrees.
