Major General Søren Andersen, who leads the Arctic Force, says he is awaiting a response from the United States.
The U.S. military has about 200 soldiers stationed in Greenland, at the Pituffik base, according to previous information from Danish authorities. The U.S. has the right to a military presence on the island under a 1951 agreement with Denmark, and has had bases there since World War II.
Andersen also says that there are no ships from Russia or China in the immediate vicinity of Greenland.
