Denmark and Greenland will meet with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio during the Munich Security Conference to discuss Greenland, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced.

"We have planned several different meetings with American politicians, including with the American Secretary of State, also regarding Greenland," Frederiksen told Danish media.

Greenland's self-government will also be represented by Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen and Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt. The Ritzau news agency reports that it may be the second meeting within the working group where the US and Denmark have agreed to continue discussions on Greenland's security and future.

Mette Frederiksen sees it as positive that Greenland is high on the agenda at the Munich conference. She describes it as a "Greenland moment" that has prompted a European awakening:

If you understand how to use it, it's good.

US Secretary of State Rubio is also expected to meet other European representatives on Friday, and then give a speech on Saturday.
