According to the non-profit Good Law Project, which is behind the request for an independent review, media coverage drove Arday to his death.
More than 90,000 people have signed the organisation's open letter, accusing the British media of "relentless harassment" based on racism.
Arday, 41, who in 2023 became Cambridge's youngest-ever black professor, was pronounced dead on Friday. He had recently left his role at the university following allegations of plagiarism in a thesis and questions about his other credentials.
On Monday, more than 30,000 people attended a memorial service for Arday in central London, according to British media.
