A lot of emotions right now. We have to suck it up today, feel shit, together with our supporters. But we have been given a new chance and we just have to recharge, says Norrköping's Christoffer Nyman to HBO Max.
Norrköping lost to IFK Göteborg 0–2 away. At the same time, Degerfors won its match against BP. This means that “Peking” will qualify to play in the Allsvenskan next season.
The qualifier opponent
We have to break up here tonight and then tomorrow is a new day and then we will continue to work really hard to solve it, says Norrköping coach Martin Falk.
In the qualifying matches, Norrköping will face Örgryte, who finished third in the Super League.
Norrköping is fourth in the Swedish league table with 75 seasons in the Swedish football elite. The team has been playing in the Swedish league since 2011 after a tough 2000s. The club has won 13 Swedish championships, the most recent of which was in 2015.
At Grimsta there were tears of joy and great celebration from Degerfors after it was clear that the team would remain in the Allsvenskan.
"Fantastic, wow, it's hard to describe the feelings. We've been in the shit for a while now, this was unbelievable a few weeks ago," Degerfors Nahom Netabay tells HBO Max.
“No myth”
Among the celebrants was head coach Henok Goitom, who took over Degerfors in July.
They have shown that they are a mentally strong group, it is not a myth but a fact, in several matches they have dug deep into their souls, says a moved Goitom after the secured contract.
Degerfors was promoted to the Allsvenskan in 2020, before being relegated in 2023. Last season, the club won the Super League and was back in the top division, and it is now clear that there will be another season.
