Basketball star Caitlin Clark was once again centre stage as her Indiana Fever won the "hat-match" against Chicago Sky in the WNBA.

The 22-year-old scored a total of 23 points – despite facing tough defence from the opponents.

We're all trying to win, so that's how it is, says Clark.

Caitlin Clark has been the name on everyone's lips in basketball circles lately.

And so again tonight.

The 22-year-old played the leading role as her Indiana Fever beat Chicago Sky 91-83. 23 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds was the American's tally.

Tough battle with the star

On the other side stood not only rival Chicago, but also another of the WNBA's biggest profiles, Angel Reese.

And it wasn't a calm affair between the stars. Angel Reese dealt out a solid blow to Clark's head as she tried to block a shot.

But Clark kept her cool, to say the least, and sank the free throws.

She tried to block my shot, but hit me. What did I think? That I had to make the free throws, she says about the situation.

One of the USA's biggest sports stars

Caitlin Clark has continued to impress since leaving college basketball behind for the WNBA in the spring. The star is already making history, having scored the most points of all time in the American college league.

But it hasn't gone unnoticed by her opponents, who often play physically and try to psyche out the inexperienced Clark.

The 22-year-old is already so popular that she came second in a poll of the most popular athletes outside the NBA, when 100 NBA players were asked. Only NFL star Lamar Jackson received more votes.

Despite the success, however, Clark has not been selected for the USA's Olympic team, which has been met with criticism in the country.
