The lawyers had requested a sentence of 14 months – of which 13 had already been served – and thus expected that Sean "Diddy" Combs would be out of prison within a few weeks.

Instead, the hip-hop star risks at least three more years behind bars.

Even though the prosecutors had requested a considerably stricter sentence, at least eleven years and three months in prison, the sentence for Combs was nonetheless severe. Imprisonment for four years and two months, probation for an additional five years and $500,000 in fines.

Now Combs' lawyers are considering appealing the sentence.

What we feel today is that the judge acted as a 13th juror, one we did not choose, and that he questioned the jury's verdict, said defense attorney Marc Agnifilo to reporters when he left the court.
