Defeat for Zibanejad's Rangers: "It hurts"

New York Rangers' Swedish forward Mika Zibanejad scored his ninth goal of the season when he made it 3–2 away against Montreal. But after a thrillingly even match, it was still Montreal that took home the win in overtime. It stings, says Zibanejad.

The match became a nail-biter where New York time and again pulled away, but Montreal was always hot on their heels and equalized. So it was also when Montreal made it 4-4 in the final period, and the match went to overtime.

That's where the fun ended for Rangers. Barely three minutes into overtime, Finn Patrik Laine scored a goal and Montreal won 5-4.

A disappointed Mika Zibanejad tells reporters after the match that Rangers had set their sights on a win, and that the loss hurts.

It was a disappointment. Especially since we led at the beginning of the third period, but didn't manage to take it all the way, he says.

The 31-year-old thinks the team played too defensively in the final period.

We did well in the first and second periods. I think we leaned back a bit too much in the third, we didn't work enough offensively.

It stings, he adds.
