Chinese Deepseek launches a new image model, just days after the Chat GPT challenger shook up the American AI sector.

The image model, under the name Janus-pro, primarily competes on this front with OpenAI and its Dall-E3. According to the site Techcrunch, Janus-pro can do what the OpenAI model can – or even better. Janus-pro can both analyze and generate images.

Deepseek's launch of the AI model competing with Chat GPT made a deep impact on the stock market and raised questions about the entire American technology sector's lead in AI.

American Nvidia, whose advanced data chips are used by major AI services, recorded a record drop in Monday's trading on Wall Street with a whole 16.9 percent. This corresponds to a value decrease of nearly 600 billion dollars.

Voice has been raised in several quarters about where the financing of Chinese Deepseek comes from and that user data can be stolen or misused by the Chinese state.
