After the Chinese AI company DeepSeek's latest funding round, founder and main owner Liang Wenfeng has climbed to the top of the list - with an estimated fortune equivalent to almost 350 billion Swedish kronor, according to Bloomberg's billionaire index.
That makes him China's eighth-richest person and the richest of all AI founders in the world, well ahead of Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei and OpenAI's Greg Brockman.
Liang was born in Zhanjiang, in southern China, in 1985. After graduating with a degree in information and communications technology, he founded the AI company DeepSeek in 2023.
DeepSeek shocked the AI world when it launched an AI model in 2025 that performed at the same level as its biggest rivals, but at a significantly lower cost.
