The number of people going into debt for buying takeout food has increased significantly in recent years.

In ten years, Swedes' debts have almost doubled, according to the report "The Bailiff in Figures," writes Dagens Nyheter.

In recent years' statistics, the number of people who go into debt for buying takeout stands out - from 384 people in 2022 to 2,926 to date. An increase of 622 percent.

"A third of all claims sent to us are under 800 kronor," says Davor Vuleta, private finance spokesperson at the Enforcement Service, to the newspaper.

For people under the age of 18 who end up with the Swedish Enforcement Authority, compensation payments to crime victims have become an increasingly common reason. This year, the number is 663 people.

It often involves young boys in vulnerable areas, second-generation immigrants who get a bad start in life and whose parents do not have the capacity to help them, says Vuleta.
