The number of new claims was 6.3 percent lower in August this year compared with the same period last year, according to a press release.
From January to August, 4,972,356 new debt collection requests were registered, a decrease of 8.7 percent compared with 2025.
According to the Swedish Debt Collection Agency, the number of ongoing cases decreased during the summer.
"This is a break from the trend. When more cases are closed than are added, the number of ongoing debt collection cases decreases. It is positive both for the people concerned and for society that the debts are reduced," says Fredrik Engström, chairman of the Swedish Debt Collection Agency, in the press release.
