Unemployment is high and employers have problems finding staff with the right skills, which folk high schools can remedy, the debaters point out.
They are Anna Ekström - former minister of education (S) - and Robert Uitto. They are chairs of the interest organizations Rörelsefolkhögskolorna and Publicly-owned folk high schools, respectively.
They say societal challenges require broad educational policy solutions, but point out that the number of participants at folk high schools has been decreasing for the third year in a row.
The funds for Sweden's folk high schools have not been increased since 2014, according to the debaters, who "urge the Riksdag and government to include folk high schools in future educational initiatives."
