The death toll from the major attacks has risen as rescue workers recovered more bodies from the rubble, Ukraine's state rescue service wrote on Telegram. At least three children are among the dead.

"Everything was burning. People were screaming and shouting," Kyiv resident Andriy, wearing blood-stained pajamas next to an almost completely collapsed apartment building, told AFP.

"Among the dead are a 12-year-old girl and girls aged 15 and 17," wrote the capital's mayor, Vitaliy Klychko, on Telegram.

On Friday morning, the rescue service announced that the search and rescue operation at a residential building, where teams had been searching for victims during the collapse, had ended.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X that 94 percent of the 1,537 drones sent against Ukraine on May 13 and 14 were stopped. However, only 7 percent of the 56 missiles aimed at the country were stopped.

"I have instructed the Ukrainian Armed Forces and security services to present proposals on how we can respond to this Russian attack," the president wrote.

On Friday night, there were again reports of explosions in the Zaporizhia region, among other places. One person was killed.

The massive attacks on Ukrainian cities have been going on practically uninterrupted since Wednesday.
